Mayor Barry Sammels said taking over the management of the Aqua Jetty is the City’s preferred business model. “We believe local government is highly experienced in this type of operation and we feel the time is right to manage the City’s premier leisure facility in-house”.
The Aqua Jetty is owned by the City of Rockingham and is a popular and well-used community facility. It was opened in April 2003 at a cost of $15.3 million and provides a wide range of aquatic and leisure services to meet the recreational, health and well-being needs of the Rockingham community.
“The City will work closely with the current manager, Belgravia Health and Leisure Group, to ensure a smooth transition when we assume full responsibility for managing the facility at the start of July”, Mayor Sammels said. “We will also communicate directly with members and staff to keep them fully informed.”
