Bin upgrade begins Monday 1 May

City of Rockingham residents are advised there may be increased traffic in their local area as contractors begin the bin upgrade on Monday 1 May 2017.

Starting on Monday, contractors will be working their way around the City upgrading bins to the new 360-litre recycling bin (yellow lid) and 240-litre green waste bin (lime green lid) and 140-litre waste bins (red lid).
On their recycling day, residents are asked to please:

  • Place BOTH bins on the kerb to be emptied
  • Leave both bins on the kerb until 6pm.

The contractors will upgrade the bins. If the contractors are unable to service the bins the first time, they will be around the following recycling day.
Once the new bins have been delivered, residents can continue to use the recycling and red-lidded waste bins as normal. Bin days will not change. The lime green-lidded green waste bin collection will start on 26 June and will be collected on the opposite fortnight to the recycling bin.
Mayor Barry Sammels said there were 50,000 residential properties within the City so the upgrade would take some time and require the assistance of residents for a smooth transition.
