Mike Barnett Sports Complex

The Mike Barnett Sports Complex is one of the region’s most significant leisure facilities and since 1 January 2018 it has been managed by the City. The complex is the home to the Rockingham Basketball Recreation Association and Rockingham Districts Netball Association.

The facility is also used regularly by school and community groups, as well as one-off bookings by external users for sporting (martial arts and cheerleading) and non-sporting requirements (craft or trade expos and fundraising events).

The facility includes the following features:

  • Seven indoor courts split between two sports halls plus a ‘show court’ used by the Rockingham Flames SBL team. Both sports halls have changeroom and toilet facilities
  • Function room with bar and attached enclosed alfresco (includes Rockingham Basketball and Recreation Association administration office)
  • Multipurpose room used for group fitness, term programs, workshops, seminars and training sessions
  • Large kiosk and commercial kitchen with tabled seating and alfresco area
  • Large foyer with reception area and two separate administration areas
  • First floor viewing gallery and multipurpose room with additional storage areas
  • Rockingham District Netball Association office, storage and meeting space.

The facility offers an array of programs including:

  • basketball

  • badminton
  • volleyball
  • court hire
  • indoor soccer
  • Prime Movers
  • special events and functions.

The timber courts at the complex were recently refurbished and further upgrades to the backboards will be scheduled during the 2018/2019 financial year.
