Goddard Street Duplication
Date Published: 3/05/2011
The section of Goddard Street between Dixon Road and Chalgrove Avenue will be upgraded to a new dual-carriageway allowing for two lanes of traffic in each direction, with works commencing this week.
The first part of the project will be to construct the new southbound carriageway and it is anticipated that this work will be completed by late July 2011. The existing carriageway will remain open to traffic during this time, however care should be taken by motorists as traffic management will be in place.
Following completion of the new carriageway, all traffic will be transferred to this road to allow the upgrading works to commence on the existing carriageway and, again, motorists should take note of traffic management. These works are expected to be completed by mid September 2011 and then the dual-carriageway will be operational.
Once the road construction works are completed, the following works will be undertaken (again, traffic management will be in place during this time):
• Provision of new street lighting in the median between the two carriageways.
• Installation of hard landscaping and concrete footpaths on the western verge.
• Planting of trees and soft landscaping on the western verge and within the median.
It is anticipated that the project will be completed by late October 2011.
