Celebrating Rockingham Awards - Nominations Now Open

Nominations are now open for the Celebrating Rockingham Awards.  The Awards recognise and celebrate the contribution and achievements of individuals, groups and organisations in developing a strong, connected, healthy and safe Rockingham community.

Winners in each of the 10 different categories will receive cash prizes of $1,000 for community groups/organisations and $500 for individuals. Nominations close 4pm Friday 24 June 2011 with the Awards ceremony set to take place at the City’s Administration Offices on Thursday 18 August.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged people to nominate outstanding groups and individuals: “The Awards are important to our community, giving us an opportunity to reward and recognise the work of some of our local groups and individuals.

“There are some local heroes out there doing amazing works and we want to know about them. I urge everyone to put in an award nomination for those who make a difference in our community.

“I would like to thank our generous partners and sponsors for supporting the achievements of our local groups and individuals.

“Sponsors for this year’s Awards include: Stockland, Kwinana Industries Council
BHP Billiton, Rockingham Shopping Centre, National Lifestyle Villages, Act Belong Commit, David Wirrpanda Foundation Neighbourhood Watch State Office, Castlerock and ASCert Australia Pty Ltd.”

The 10 award categories include:
Individual Awards:
- Inspirational Senior Volunteer Award sponsored by the City of Rockingham
- Inspirational Adult Volunteer Award sponsored by Satterley Property Group
- Inspirational Young Person Volunteer Award sponsored by Act, Belong, Commit
- Inspirational City of Rockingham Volunteer Award sponsored by the City of Rockingham
- Inspirational Indigenous Leadership Award sponsored by David Wirrpanda Foundation
- Inspirational Neighbour Award sponsored by the City of Rockingham

Community Group/Organisation Awards:
- Strengthening Community Award sponsored by Stockland
- Community Inclusion Award sponsored by Kwinana Industries Council
- Community Partnership Award sponsored by Rockingham Shopping Centre
- Schools Environmental Project Award sponsored by BHP Billiton
