Act Belong Committ Sponsorship for Womens Sporting Clubs

Date Published: 29/06/2011

Under the 2011 Act-Belong-Commit Sponsorship Initiative, five women’s winter sporting teams have received $1000 each to go towards new team uniforms.

Successful applicants include Rockingham Coastal Sharks, Rugby League Club, Rockingham Rugby Union Football Club, Midcity Hockey Club Comet Bay Sports Club (Netball) and the Rockingham Womens’ and Girls’ Football Club (Soccer).

The new uniforms have been designed and produced to feature the Act-Belong-Commit logo and the clubs will be helping to promote the message of mental health through acting, belonging and committing. The first home game of the season will be dedicated to creating awareness of the Act-Belong-Commit campaign by displaying signage and promoting the message.

Mayor Barry Sammels congratulated the clubs on their sponsorship: “Well done to the local sporting clubs who will benefit from this sponsorship. Sporting clubs are great ambassadors for the Act-Belong-Commit message because they encourage people to be active physically, mentally and socially.

“Participants of sporting clubs tend to volunteer their time for a healthy cause and form new social relationships through their involvement”.

“Keeping physically and mentally active, having a sense of belonging, and committing to goals and causes that provide meaning and purpose in life all contribute to mental health and wellbeing.”
