Since 1997 the City of Rockingham Sports Star Awards has marked an annual celebration of outstanding achievements within the Rockingham sporting community. The City takes great pride in recognising and rewarding the achievements of local sporting individuals and teams.

2018 awards

The 2018 City of Rockingham Sports Star Awards ceremony was held at the Gary Holland Community Centre on Thursday 20 September 2018.

​Celebrating its 22nd anniversary, the awards recognised international, national, state, regional and local competition level champions from Rockingham.  The value of sport and recreation in the Rockingham community cannot be over emphasised. ​This is why the City of Rockingham continues to recognise the achievements of local sports people and volunteers. 

Winners

The winners for the 2018 Sport Star Awards are:

  • Club of the Year - Rockingham Rugby Union Football Club
  • Team/Squad of the Year - Rockingham City Footall Club U13's Metro Division 2 Team 
  • Senior Sportsperson of the Year - Luke Gaisford (motocross)
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year - Jordan Callum (BMX)
  • Sportsperson of the Year with Disability - Michael Nvota (judo)
  • Volunteer of the Year - Wayne Hunt (integrated AFL and cricket)
  • John Brown Lifetime Achievement Memorial Award - Bob Chalmers (little athletics).
