General information

The City of Rockingham operates three diverse libraries with combined resources of over 190,000 items.

All library items are supplied to the Rockingham community by the State Library of WA, the City of Rockingham, Murdoch University, Challenger Institute of Technology and the Department of Education.

 

Joining the library

Library membership is free.

To join, all you need to do is:

  • Complete the application form at one of the libraries or download the form below
  • Provide a form of identification (preferably with a photo) which shows your current address

All members of the family may be enrolled including babies.

Children aged 15 or younger must be joined by a parent or guardian.

Warnbro Community Library asks for the parents to be present to join all children under 17.

Students of Warnbro Community High School will be issued a library card on enrolment.

Once you have successfully joined, you can immediately borrow from any of the three libraries. You will need to present your membership card in order to borrow items or use the E-library facilities.

Things to Remember

  • You must have your library card if you wish to borrow
  • Library items must not be taken from the library building without checking them out
  • You are responsible for all items borrowed on your library card
  • Keep your card safe
  • Report lost or stolen library card as soon as possible to prevent unauthorized use
  • For lost cards the replacement charge is $5.00 per card
  • The charge is waived for stolen cards if a Police Report number is quoted
  • Do not remove covers from books
  • Handle all library items with care
  • Please tell us if you change your name, postal and or email address

Borrowing

What is available: books, audio books, DVDs, music CDs, large print books, magazines, paperback exchange, books in languages other than English, children’s and young adult’s collections.

Returns

  • Borrowed items should be returned on or before the due back date to the library from which the items were borrowed 
  • After hours Return chute is available at the Rockingham Regional Library

Renewals

  • All items may be renewed twice, providing they are not overdue or requested by another patron
  • You can renew your loans in person, by telephone or online
  • Please have your library card ready when calling us

Requests

  • Items on loan can be requested
  • You can request items via our online Catalogue
  • You can view and request from the ‘New books’ list
  • Or you can request at the circulation desk
  • Items not available from Rockingham Libraries Collections can be requested through the state-wide Inter Library Lending Scheme from more than 2 million items held at public libraries in WA
  • You will be notified when the requested item is ready to collect

Recalled Items

  • Non-fiction items borrowed are subject to recall to allow everyone access to library collections
  • You will be notified by phone or letter if an item is recalled

Notices

  • If you have an email address we will send you a courtesy notice 4 days before your items are due
  • You will receive an overdue notice (by post or email) if your loans are more than 10 days overdue
  • Borrowing rights will be suspended until overdue items have been returned
  • If you do not return the borrowed items you will be issued with a ‘Final/Bill Notice’. Not responding to this notice may result in City of Rockingham Debt Recovery Agency action.

Damaged items

  • Please treat all library items with care as you will be charged for any damaged items
  • Please report any damage as soon as you notice it
