Contemporary Arts Centre
A study brief for a feasibility study on the Contemporary Arts Centre was completed in April 2007. In late 2008, Rockingham City Council appointed a highly credentialed consultant team, lead by Graham Walne and Peter Alexander, to undertake the feasibility study.
The study is progressing according to the agreed scope of works, with the final report anticipated to be completed by late 2009/early 2010.
To date, the primary research has indicated that the project is strongly supported by the community and that there is a clear need for performing and visual arts facilities, which are lacking in a population hub of the size of Rockingham. There is a clear potential for the facilities in question to serve the region.
The Department for Planning, Council, and Rockingham Kwinana Development Office have all contributed funding for the Study, together with a State Government grant of $15,000 from the Community Cultural and Arts Facilities Fund.
